DON'T DO IT!
Lets just say that I over heard several grad school students speaking
on this subject, that even after they scalled up the Na2PdCL4 so that
there was the same amount of Pd in solution...
IE - 1.8g PdCl2 = 2.8g NaPdCl4 = same amount of Pd .....
The reaction yielded ~40% ketone (by mole) when the student clearly
expected +75% conversion.
The student was noticably pissed at the outcome, because the only
variable that was changed between 3 previuosly successful attampts and
this run, was the SodiumPdCl ....
Now having a little salt in the soultion is prolly the culprit...
Notice that the only CATION in solution should be the Pd ... Having the
Na+ in there to could possibly impede the reaction, due to Na+ 's greater
charge density .....
HUMMMMMMMM.
